Learn More

Thanks so much for learning more about the MyIsrael program.  To the best of my knowledge, this type of program has never before been offered.

The big idea is to see the connections between Jewish history, the land, Judaism and the Jewish people.  To make the most of our week-long tour, we’re including a class series that will help us prepare for the trip by getting to know the spiritual aspects of the places we’ll see.

One example is Tzefat (Safed), the city where Kabbalah was expanded and developed in the sixteenth century.  In our classes we’ll study a little Kabbalah and learn why Tzefat was particularly suited for that discipline. When we visit Tzefat we’ll feel the atmosphere as we walk in the beautiful ancient synagogues of the Kabbalah masters.

The trip will start with the area associated with Abraham and Sarah, and we’ll go day-by-day almost literally through the footsteps of history.  And as Judaism has its eras – Patriarchs, Kings, Second Temple period – we’ll see how the events of history and the development of Judaism fit together.  We’ll go all the way to the establishment of the modern State of Israel and the reunification of Jerusalem.

The names and places you’ve read about in the Torah and Tanach will come alive literally at your fingertips and under your feet.

I lived in Israel for 10 years and I still feel the sense of 4000 years of history melting away when I stood in the very places I’d read about in the bible.  I’m very excited to be able to share that deep experience with you.

To speak with me about the program, write to me at MyIsrael@DoJewish.org, or call me at 404-271-1102.

I look forward to speaking with you soon, and hopefully walking the bible together!
